Havana. The tropical Cuban capital that brings true Spanish art, festivals and performances to life! Although the summer months of 30-degree weather is finally upon us, Toronto and Cuba are vastly different, but we were able to bring a Havana nights theme event to the 6ix for MNP’s 10-year anniversary! From authentic Spanish cuisine, to salsa dancing and live musical performances, everyone’s heart was truly in Havana this evening. Here’s an inside look at Havana Nights Party:
HAVANA NIGHTS EVENT VENUE
When guests walked through the door, the energy and excitement of the Havana theme was captured through the look and feel of the venue. Held at the Fermented Cellar in the Distillery District, the large open space was the perfect setting to add small and large-scale touches of Havana.
As guests arrived they were greeted by Pop! staff and offered fedoras and sunglasses that initiated the spirit of the Havana theme the second they walked through the door. The décor for the event was entirely customized to fit the Cuban themed party. Branded vintage suitcases, burnt orange sofas and chocolate coloured benches, paired with wood topped side tables helped to truly bring out the sexy feel of Havana.
3-foot marquee letters spelling out the words CUBA and BEBIDAS were lit up throughout the bar and venue, along with 10 foot green silk palm trees.
It wouldn’t be in true Havana form without a Cigar lounge and cigar roller who demonstrated the subtle art of cigar rolling for guests.
One of the most talked about experiences of the night was the vintage 53 Chevy Bel-Air! Even if you’re not a car person, this car was made for Havana night cruising. Posing alongside this beauty couldn’t be helped by both guests and our Pop! Staff.
CORPORATE ENTERTAINMENT
There’s nothing sultrier than Havana style corporate entertainment, and this event brought all the heat! The DJ played Latin music throughout the night, followed by a saxophone soloist and percussionist drummer performing for the crowd.
What better way to team build and connect with staff than by getting out on the dance floor to learn how to salsa! Professional salsa dancers showed us their moves and invited guests to take part in a little dance lesson.
AUTHENTIC SPANISH CUISINE
What sets events apart from the rest is… FOOD! Hors d’oeuves included: Fresh Oysters, Mini Cuban Sandwiches, Yuca Frittas, Salt Cod Croquettes, Shrimp Ceviche and Black Bean and Braised Chicken Empanadas. Chef de cuisine Joshua Dyer was able to bring the sizzle of the south into his Cuban inspired food creations.
This year, Chef Dyer went overseas for a month to work at Maido, the Peruvian restaurant that’s 8th best in the world! We think the guests received an authentic experience.
Making any theme you can dream of come to life is what we do best, and we love bringing fun and exciting corporate events to our Toronto clients! Contact us if you’re looking to host an event that leaves your team and employees wow’d and talking for months to come. Now that’s corporate culture!
