Our guests from Waste Connections Toronto wanted a way to enjoy their annual company summer picnic with their coworkers and families while still keeping cool and that’s exactly what we created for them! From Tiki Huts that served out delicious Shaved Ice, to getting drenched at Water Tag and going down the water slides, to even scaling up a rock wall. Here are some of the amazing activities we had for them for the day over at the Boyd Conservation Park!

Waste Connections 2019 Summer Event Venue

Boyd Conservation Park in Vaughn was the perfect space for all the fun activities planned for all the adults and kids that day! An oasis of nature close to the Don and Humber rivers and surrounded by tall trees, it was a great escape from the city for a day of outdoor fun and entertainment! Boyd Conservation Park is part of the Picnics group that has sites all over the GTA and hosts a range of events with many amenities. It is also governed by the TRCA(Toronto and Region Conservation Authority) that safeguards and restores the natural environment and ecological services that the environment of these areas provides.

Guests were greeted to a tropical themed summer picnic with Hawaiian leis and a vibrant, colourful event space filled with activities, treats and stalls to visit in each corner of the park! The theme was a collaboration between the client and us as they really wanted to incorporate water activities so we thought a tropical feel for the day would perfectly compliment those activities and the season!

Outdoor Activities

There were no shortages of fun activities for the day! Starting with a nostalgic throw back to the old carnival games, kids tried their luck at the Swashbuckler, Gone Fishin’ or Penguin Fish Fling, while the older guests literally took their shot at the basketball hoops and attempted to scale the rock climbing wall!

Water Activities

Summer’s only here for a few months so we made sure to greet it with a big splash! The kids cooled down with games of Water Tag, rushing down the Water Slide and going for a ride on the Paddle Boats.

Despite the beautiful vast park we were in, we made sure that our staff was around every corner and at every station. Not only to ensure the safety of all our guests but also, very importantly, to make sure that everyone was having the utmost fun possible!

Craft Stations

For our guests that didn’t want to spend the day getting wet or taking their chances at the games, they could cater to their more creative side with our Craft Stations for the day. Guests chose to create their very own customized Stuffed Toy with options of animals such as unicorns, bears, rabbits and more! They could also choose to get some “ink” at our temporary Matte Tattoo Station where our trained staff would put on a design of their choice on them in mere minutes.

The Matte Tattoos are safe, non-toxic and can last anywhere between 3-7 days depending on how you take care of them. With a variety of designs to choose from, our guests had fun picking ones that best represented their style that day. Even the little ones were curious about the process!

MUNCH, MUNCH, MUNCHHH

Hours of having fun in the sun would leave anyone with a ravenous appetite! Well our guests didn’t have to worry as Pop! Events Group brought on the scrumptious Chico’s Fun BBQ food truck that doled out sausages, jerk chicken, juicy steak and a variety of delicious sides like pasta salad, roast potatoes and more to everyone. For folks that just wanted some treats, we had that covered too! The Hawaiian Tiki Hut Shaved Ice and Candy station had every item to get everyone on a sugar rush!

Guests, young and old, cooled down from the heat with some Hawaiian Shaved ice with Blue Raspberry and Red Cherry flavours and snacked it up with some sweet and salty treats like cans of Pringles or packets of Skittles, Mike and Ike’s, and Starbursts amongst others!

Live Entertainment

If going through all the activities wasn’t enough, we had some fantastic live entertainment lined up for the day! A group of beautiful dancers showed guests how to hula and get their hips moving with some authentic Polynesian dancing that brought a little bit of Hawaii to the North. An exotic Animal Show treated our guests, and especially the kids, to some amazing critters that one would not normally cross paths with along with some educational facts about them!

The onsite animal expert answered all the questions that our young minds in attendance had to throw at her as she brought out creatures that ranged from a fluffy rabbit all the way to a terrifying snake that caused some folks to slither away! It was so much fun to see how smart the kids were with their imaginative inquiries about the animals!

The Little Ones

There were lots of little ones running around the park grounds that day but whether your little one was wearing a diaper, bouncing around all the castles that day or even a furry 4 legged creature sniffing about, the staff at Pop! Events Group made sure that every single one of them was well taken care of and had the utmost fun in the safest of ways!

We at Pop! Events Group love making event dreams come to life and we’re so happy we could do that for the Waste Connections family!
